It is the wide open spaces, the simplicities of a land that is quietly safeguarding ancient histories at every turn that you remember the most. Then comes the elements. Wild seas with some of the biggest waves in Scotland and a bitterly cold windchill.
Looking back on our recent trip to Orkney, it is easy to see why the locals here are so inspired. And silversmith Celina Rupp is no exception. Celina has lived on Orkney for most of her life and through her fine handcrafted jewellery wants to inspire as she is inspired by her home island.
With over 20 years of experience, Celina’s designs capture the very essence of some of Orkney’s most notably landmarks – both archaeological and ecological. Her unique collections feature the iconic standing stones at the Ring of Brodgar and the Italian Chapel to marine life and the harvest moon, each named after Celina’s subject and with a story to tell.
Stepping into her studio in the Parish of Holm was a delight. We visited each cabinet numerous times and with each visit got excited about a different piece. Between us, we have just a few on our wish lists!
